Being an HMS parent is more than drop-offs and pick-ups.  It's about saddling up, riding with the herd, and making middle school an adventure worth remembering.

Want to know the secret to student success outside the classroom? Parent engagement. When you join the PTSA, show up for conferences, cheer at school events, or have a good chat at the dinner table, you're giving your Bronco a boost in both academics and confidence. Because when the whole herd rallies, every Bronco rides stronger.

Parents, here's how to Saddle Up with HMS and earn your Bronco Champion status:

1. Saddle Up & Join the PTSA (Bring the Whole Herd)

Sign up yourself, your spouse, your student, grandparents, siblingsif they love HMS, they can join! Every membership makes our school stronger.

PTSA members receive our monthly newsletter and receive discounts on certain events.

2. Ride Straight to Bronco Bucks

Skip the fundraising hustle- your Bronco Bucks donation goes 100% toward student activities, teacher appreciation, and campus needs. Unlike school district funding, PTSA donations are tax-deductible and are not subject to Texas' Recapture, aka Robinhood.

3. Lasso Those Tom Thumb Rewards

Link your Tom Thumb Rewards card to HMS PTSA and let your grocery trips work double-time for our Broncos.

4. Round Up Business Sponsors

Know a local business that loves our Broncos? Point them our way to join our Back the Broncos Business Sponsorship program. And be sure to visit our sponsors page to learn more and thank the business that support our school.

5. Corral Items for the Fall Silent Auction

Donate baskets, gift cards, services, or experiences-  or use your charm to gather donations from friends and local businesses.

6. Get Cleared for the Arena (Background Check)

Complete your GCISD background check so you're ready to help at school or PTSA events.

7. Saddle Up Where You Shine

  • Join the PTSA Board – Bring your ideas and help steer the year's events.
  • Help at Stand-Alone Events – Even one hour of your time makes you a Bronco hero.

8. Show Up & Join the Ride

Attend PTSA meetings, cheer at events, and subscribe to the HMS PTSA Calendar so you never miss the action.

9. Stay on the Trail

Read the monthly PTSA newsletter and the weekly Bronco Bits Principal's newsletter for the inside scoop on all things HMS.

10. Follow the Herd

Follow HMS and HMS PTSA on social media for updates, photos, and reminders.

11. Meet the HMS Welcome Wagon

Get to know Mrs. Snowden and Mr. O'Connor in the front office- they know everything HMS and will steer you in the right direction.  When your student is absent, email Mr. O'Connor or submit their absence in Skyward.

12. Wear Your Blue and Gold Proudly

Buy spirit wear and sport it everywhere- from the football stands to the grocery store.

13. Cheer On Your Bronco

Encourage your student to attend school events like the Fall Social, 6th Grade Cotillion, choir and band concerts, plays, and football & volleyball games.

14. If Times Get Tough, We're Here to Help

If there's ever a hardship, financial or otherwise, reach out to Allyiah Daniels, HMS Counseling Advocate. She can connect you with PTSA or other community resources to help ensure a student is not missing out on school-related activities. HMS PTSA partners with the Counseling Advocate to protect your family's privacy.
